Love for a Daughter
I wrote this poem when I was reminiscing about my daughter. She's still a baby to me, and yet she's growing up so fast I almost can't stand it! It makes me shed a tear whenever I look at her baby pictures or videos of her when she was so little. I know time is going to fall between the cracks in my fingers like sand and I'll be grasping at the end to get it all back.
I just hope I realize how precious she is at this age and that I'm able to remember these moments when she's all grown up and out on her own. She's such a beautiful light in a dark world...
My Beautiful Babe
My beautiful sunshiney baby
Lying in a little pink cradle
She's growing up too quickly
Fathoming this, I am not able
Hair shining like strands of golden wheat
Pure innocence filling her chocolatey eyes
I remember every breath and every sigh
Her squeaky little newborn cries
But those baby moments are dissipating
She's growing into a little girl
But she's always going to be my beautiful babe
When I look at pictures of her four years ago
I can't help but tear up to the brim
Seeing her gorgeous face, I have to fight it
Fight giving into her every adorable whim
Sunshine pouring into my soul
Seeing her sitting there...making me whole
My beautiful babe
I melt when I see your face
My precious little angel, don't grow up too fast
I want this pure joy to last and last
Rocking you like you are still a baby
Will I still be rocking you in ten years? Maybe...
But I'll always love my beautiful babe
I'll always be here to protect you
Come to me when you need a hand or an ear
Or simply a loving mother to hold you near
My sunshiney beautiful babe
I'll never leave, I'll always be here

Kitty I knew that was your daughter as soon as I saw her. An endearing poem and such a precious sweet little girl you have there my friend. Remember: A daughter is a daughter all her life, a son is a son till he takes a wife.:)

This was so lovely Kitty! It reminds me of a children's book i used to read to my own daughter called "I'll Love You Forever". I couldn't ever get thru it without choking up, and your words gave me the same feeling! upandbeautiful!

My mother is very fond of her daughter's son. Today I asked her did you love us like you love your grand son, she began crying.
I felt so sorry for her.

Your daughter is beautiful :) I love the poem. it's so easy for me to want my little girl to be able to talk to me and run around... But i so want her to stay little like she is too. We should just love every second as it comes. They certainly don't stay little for long! p.s: long time no speak...How have you been? I'll be starting up those vodou hubs again soon ;)
nasake - Yours is too! You're right though...we shouldn't rush any stage of their childhood because before you know it it's gone and you're wishing to go back! Trust me on that! Enjoy her tiny feet and hands and her baby coos. Enjoy every moment with her as a baby, because one day she'll be a toddler and then a preschooler and you'll be thinking "where's my little baby?" I've been great! How about you? And I can't wait to read more of your hubs! Get crackin' buddy. :)
Yeah i'm great. Massively busy with little Lily and work stuff, it seems like the last four months has been a blur! I'm just now starting to come down to reality if you know what i mean, trying to slow everything down and get back to my previous state where i appreciated everything and time travelled along at a manageable pace :p
Kitty, this is beautiful. They do grow up so darned fast. One day they're in diapers, the next graduating from HS. So you get many, many photos of the gorgeous little angel!
