Jayne Mansfield - A Satanic Witch?
Jayne Mansfield. Beautiful blonde sex symbol of the 50's and 60's, mother, friend, and Satanist? Yes, you read it correctly. But why would a woman of such beauty and grace get involved with such a dark religious cult? Let's explore a little bit about Jayne Manfield's Satanist background and her intense involvement with the Satanic church.
When I first read the words "Jayne Mansfield was a Satanist", I wasn't sure what to think. At first I didn't believe it, but then I thought about it a bit longer and remembered that many people in the entertainment industry are involved with either the Illuminati or the Masons, and much of the symbolism involved with these two groups is intertwined with Satanism. Are they connected? I am not positive, but I would gather that they are from the things that I have learned. As I read further on about the blonde Hollywood bombshell Jayne Mansfield, I discovered that she was very close to the master of the Satanist Church, Anton LaVey.
But how did she get involved with such a group? Apparently Jayne Mansfield had always had a very deep interest in the Occult and Supernatural world. Her best friends would say that she would perform black magic rituals and wander around cemeteries at night...maybe in search for an evil spirit? Who knows. What is obvious is that Jayne Mansfield was more than hungry for success and fame, she was obsessed with it and would do anything in order to get it. Call it a self-esteem problem, or pure greed, but either way she wanted the world in the palms of her hands and would sell herself as the "Queen of Sex" in order to get what she wanted.
In fact, Jayne Mansfield was the first Hollywood actress to show herself in the nude on a mainstream film. Everyone around the world compared her looks to Marilyn Monroe but knew her as the #1 Sex Symbol by far. Jayne would come to learn about the Satanic movement and had an intense desire to meet the man who headed up the movement, Anton LaVey. After meeting Anton LaVey, Jayne Mansfield was initiated into the Satanic Church. It has been said that her initiation was a huge event, with a celebratory party engaging after her initiation and pink baphomet-adorned presents were given to Mansfield for joining the Satanic Church.
Many people deny the fact that Jayne Mansfield was a Satanist, but I think that the picture of her and Anton LaVey proves the point that indeed Jayne was a Satanist, and a very active Satanist at that. Anton even said that Jayne would ask him on several occasions to contact Satan in order to aid her in certain aspects of her life, including when her child was having health problems. Who knows, Jayne probably had her kids involved in the Satanic Church, as well.
Her dance with the Satanic Church ended abruptly in 1967 when she was heading from one gig to the next and her car was ran directly into an insecticide truck. The car went under the truck, which inevitably took the top of the car clean off...along with the top of Jayne and the other two adults in the car with her that night. Luckily her three children were sleeping in the back and made it out alive. Jayne was in her mid thirties when she died, so one is to wonder if Satanism had a factor in her death or do we draw the line between religion and fate?
I believe many more celebrities and musicians these days are active in the Satanic Church, they just do a great job of covering it up. If a beautiful starlet of the 50's like Jayne Mansfield could have been a Satanist, why couldn't the corrupted, greedy stars today be Satanists, too?

This is an awesome topic to explore. I salute you for publishing this. I try to avoid the topic altogether, but I couldn't help but find this very interesting just the same.
Hmm, I didn't know this about her.
When I was a teen I bought a copy of Le Vey's Satanic Bible. I read it but like many other religious books I read at the time it didn't tempt me to become a follower. To me, the whole thing read like only a spoof of Catholic rituals. I don't know much about Mansfield so don't want to judge her, but as far as religion goes the ideas in that book came across not as a celebration of evil but a treatise geared toward elevating narcissism. If Mansfield suffered from low-esteem it is possible that Le Vey's doctrines helped her overcome this; though for most circumstances my personal opinion is that the doctrines are self-serving and not conductive to spiritual enlightenment. And let's not forget that Le Vey was "inspired" to create his church from the slanted views of humanity he gleaned from his years in the circus, lol.

bethperry - So funny, I was just saying the exact same thing the other day in regards to Satanism not necessarily being all about Satan but centered around the "self"; which means that everyone else around the typical Satanist is neglected and is not as important in the Satanists eyes as themselves. And I fully agree, that is not conducive to a path of spiritual enlightenment. So weird that I just said those exact words two days ago! Great article! The funny thing is, I actually don't believe the stars of today even attempt to cover it up. There are so many involved. I also think that the only people who don't believe that type of stuff happens at all are very naive. If there are people that pray to God, there are people who worship Satan and things of that nature.

Mansfield, her boyfriend Sam Brody, and the driver were killed. Asleep in the back of the vehicle, Mariska Hargitay, then three and a half years old, and her two brothers escaped with minor injuries. Mariska is now an actor on the TV show Law and Order Special Victims Unit. Interesting article; I voted Up and Interesting.

How coincidental, I watched her 1963 movie, Promises! Promises!, last night and now this hub. Anyway I don't think her death had anything to do with her alleged Satanic spirit.
I've read some of La Vey's writings and it's pure aesthetics to the degree of parody. I think it tickled her vanity to have a "secret" dark side as to balance out the fame of a beauty. So in the end, it might not have been serious in its core. We don't know what was inside Mansfield's head and soul. She might have said things to La Vey and others that were consciously provocative and thus confirming her darker spirits for herself, but was it really deeply sincere?

As you say, kitty, we'll never know. Its been said that her IQ was 163. She spoke five languages, and was a classically trained pianist and violinist. She was only 34 when she died.

You've written a good article here that gets interested people thinking. Its true as Silva Hayes pointed out, that Jayne had a genius IQ which makes her being promoted as blond bimbo sex bomb all the more tragic in a way. Yes, Jayne lusted after fame like a moth to flame. Her seven year contract with 20th century fox-sounds like a devil's pact a doesn't it- was basically unfulfilled as the studio after her first couple of pictures really didn't know what to do with her. After that things started going awry for Jane who sought ways to reclaim and retain the glory. Of course this was the sex route like with the famous nude bath-tub scene in 'Promises, Promises' whose still pics went into Playboy. Jayne should have accepted the part of Ginger in the TV sit-com Gilligan's Island for by the time she meet LaVey in 1966 her career was in tatters. To close it up, her current beau Sam Brody got in an argument with LaVey which had Brody threatening to run LaVey out of his San Fran Church of Satan headquarters. LaVay conjured a black magic curse on Brody and told him he'd be dead within a year. He also warned Jayne to stay out of any automobile with him but of course she didn't listen. One thing of many I really liked in this Hub kitty is your bringing up the question, just how involved and what are the particulars with Jayne's relation-ship with LaVay and his Church of Satan?

Been interested in Jayne for a long time. There was something about her story that intrigued me. Right, not only was she warned by LaVey to leave him, he specially warned her to stay out any automobile he was driving. LaVay, whatever else he was, new the arts of black magic conjuring. Just read recently kitty where David Bowie when he first came to L.A. tried one night to do some dark Aleister Crowley type evoking in a motel swimming pool and his ex-wife and others swear he raised a dark form in the bottom of the pool. Scared Bowie so bad he gave up messing with the dark arts permanently. Creepy for real.
AP - I'd never heard of Bowie being involved in the dark arts, but I believe many hollywood stars and musicians get involved nowadays...maybe they don't even realize what they're getting into but they fall into the trap. I believe Lady Gaga is one of them. She holds her hands in the form of the Baphomet hand signals and has much much symbolism in her videos and songs about Satan and the dark arts. Check into it...you might be surprised. But the Bowie story...very creepy. I don't understand why anyone would find it a smart idea to conjure up something dark...
Been attacked by a demon or dis-embodied negative entity and have written about it. So it doesn't surprise me one bit about Lady Gaga. The lust for riches and fame can run deep; and some are willing to do anything for it. Not saying Gagas done this but from what you describe kitty I'd put serious money on it being true, at least in some form. If correct then her eventual fate is sealed as dealings with dark forces ALWAYS end up bad for the person. There are those that scoff and ridicule, doesn't change the facts of the matter that many of us know to be a reality. One negative ceremony I know of personally from way back when, resulted in one person's death and another who was pale as a sheet and shaking for days. The trap may be baited with sweets, but the bottom is rank and foul.
AP - Wow, that is scary. Which hub is it, I'd like to read it. Yes, I truly believe that Lady Gaga is into the dark arts, there are too many signs that point to the fact that she is. It's hard for me to deny it, unfortunately...because I love her music and I think she's extremely talented. But weirdly enough, when I went to her concert, I had a strange feeling that her talent isn't coming just from her...I felt as though there was something unnatural about it...if that makes sense. Kitty, I just read that Mariska Hargitay (Jayne's daughter) and her husband have adopted two children within the last 6 months, bringing the total of their children to 5. Mariska has surrounded herself with love. She has come far from that terrified little 3-year-old in the back seat of that car.

It seems spooky to me that an icon of the Great Days of Hollywood would be involved in Satanism. What goes around, comes around, and maybe her death was a result.
