How to Find Ella and Jake Halloween Costumes From Cowboys & Aliens

Feel like dressing a bit western this year for Halloween? Why not try to put together an Ella and Jake Cowboys and Aliens costume set for you and your significant other for Halloween? This is especially fun if you live somewhere far away from the Wild West! Instead of buying a costume that has already been pre-made and pre-packaged for your Ella and Jake Halloween costumes, why not try to put the looks together yourself? Cowboy and cowgirl costume pieces can be found all over the place. See just how close you can look like Ella and Jake (Cowboys & Aliens) for Halloween this year and surprise your friends.

So what did Ella wear in Cowboys and Aliens that you would like to emulate for your Halloween costume this year? There were two particular outfits that Ella wore during the Cowboys and Aliens movie.

1. A colonial, Victorian style floor-length floral dress with a cowgirl hat.
2. A loose fitting linen, long-sleeve shirt and trousers, with boots and hat.

At one point, Ella is completely nude in Cowboys and Aliens, but I don't think that look will go over so well on Halloween, anywhere except a nudist resort. So let's stick with one of the two options above for an authentic Ella Halloween costume.

If you'd like to go for the Victorian gown look, try etsy.com first. They have wonderfully hand-made pieces in all different types of Victorian and Colonial styles. Even some of their vintage dresses look very similar to the gown Ella wears in the Cowboys and Aliens movie. If you are a DIY-er or excellent seamstress, you could also grab a pattern for Victorian/Colonial dresses from your nearest Fabric Store, Joann's Fabrics or even Walmart.

You could also try your pattern options on Amazon. I've gathered a few patterns for Colonial looking dress patterns and placed them in the Amazon panel to the right. Don't forget to grab a great pair of cowgirl boots and that brown cowgirl hat that Ella wears so elegantly in the Cowboys and Aliens movie to top (or bottom) off your Ella Halloween Costume.

If you want to go for the tougher, "get-down-to-business" Ella Halloween Costume, option #2, find a peasant long-sleeved shirt with plain brown or black trousers. Add the boots and hat and you're ready to fight some aliens with the cowboys!

What was the best part of Cowboys and Aliens? Jake, the gun-slingin', tough but oh-so-sweet cowboy in chaps, of course! What's hotter than a man with a cute butt wearing a pair of chaps? So get your man or get yourself a pair of chaps to go over your favorite pair of jeans for the Jake Cowboy and Aliens Halloween Costume this year.

Jake's costume is pretty easy to put together. Again, jeans as the base pair of pants, purchase a pair of cheap chaps either from Amazon or from your local Western wear shop (depending on your budget). You'll want to have a gun belt with a fake Western-looking gun (an easy purchase from a party store or costume shop anywhere these days), a pair of cowboy boots, a button up shirt (either linen or otherwise), and a cowboy hat. For god's sake, don't forget the hat! You won't look like Jake if you miss the cowboy hat.

If you really want to go all out for your Jake Cowboys and Aliens Halloween costume this year, don't forget the alien weapon bracelet that Jake totes around in the movie. My suggestion is to look for this online, possibly at party stores or do a quick google search on this item. A bag of gold coins would also add to the Jake Cowboy costume appeal.
