Dream Dictionary Series: B is for Bee Dream Meanings
80Dreams of Bees
Have you ever wondered what about the meanings of dreams? Have you recently had dreams of bees? Maybe these buzzing bees have been flying in and out of your dreams every night...maybe they make their presence known only once in your dreams. However much you have dreamed of bees, you are now wanting to know what these bee dreams mean. In this hub, the first in my Dream Dictionary series, I will give you a couple interpretations for your dreams of bees. Remember, the meanings of dreams ultimately have to be defined and personalized to fit yourself. I can provide suggestions for dream meanings, but that is all they are...suggestions. Take them for what they're worth and apply them or let them guide you in the search to your dream meanings.
Bees in Mythology
The bee in mythology dates back thousands of years to the time of the Mycenaeans and also to the Mayans. The Mycenaeans referred to their priestesses as "Melissa", which translates to "Bee". Also in Mycenaean culture, bees were thought to be the guardians of the passing between realms, or as guides from the mundane world to the spiritual world.
The symbol of the Bee and honeycomb is found in ancient Mayan culture, as the Mayans said that honey was the food of the gods.
Interestingly, honey, when said to grace the lips of an individual, was thought to provide the individual with the gift of eloquent speech. This was a common theory/tale in ancient Greece and it was said that Plato, Ambrose, and Pindar were all blessed with honey upon the lips when they were just infants.
Symbology in Dreams of Bees
So what exactly is the meaning of my dreams of bees, you are probably asking. Well, there are a couple different meanings that have hit me.
After beginning to write this hub, last night I had a dream that a bee (or possibly a wasp to be exact) flew into my shirt and stung my back and right arm four times. I remember the spots actually hurting in my dream, but when I awoke this morning I wanted nothing but to continue writing this hub. The bee's stings actually inspired me...one could say, stinging me with the eloquence of language...the written language. This was my interpretation to one of my dreams of bees for myself.
When attempting to find the meanings of dreams, one must think of the symbology within the dream.
What does the bee represent to you? Was there a single bee in your dream or multiple bees or maybe a whole colony? Did they sting you or talk to you?
A single bee could represent a messenger of some kind. Maybe a spiritual messenger...try talking to the bee if you ever meet it again in your dreams.
Experienced a colony of bees in your dreams? Possibly this dream is symbolizing the fact that you need a job! For what does a colony of bees do better than stinging? Making honey together as a full and cooperative unit! The bee colony has long been a symbol of human society...working together for one main purpose.
You are experiencing oversized bees in your dreams of bees? Maybe your work habits are turning to an unhealthy state...you need a break!
This will conclude the first of my A-Z Dream Dictionary Series. Even though I skipped the letter A, there will be more to come!
