A Very Gothic Christmas: Gothic Christmas Decorations, Gothic Christmas Gifts, & More!

Have Yourself A Very Gothic X-Mas
So you are a little bit on the darker side of life and wish to celebrate the Holidays in pure Gothic style? I don't blame you! In spite of all of the cheery and bright Christmas decor, cheesy blase parties, and boring gifts, you can find very gothic Christimas items for this Holiday season that fit your gothic lifestyle. It may take a bit more patience and a little creativity, but you can make this Christmas a dark X-Mas to die for!
"Where you can always find me, and we'll have Halloween on Christmas..." - Mark Hoppus, Boxcar Racer's "Miss You".
Dark Xmas Decor
Instead of the typical Christian Christmas Decor, you are searching for the quintessential gothic Christmas decor and you need some ideas. You've come to the right place. There are many websites that sell gothic decorations for the Christmas and winter holidays, including Etsy.com. The gothic Christmas stocking to the right features a tattoo-ed gothic girl with an eccentric fuzzy pink topper and lining. Hang it from your black or dark wooden mantle in hopes for Sandy Claws to bring you dark Christmas stocking stuffers galore.
Instead of the green and red Christmas tree topped gleefully with a heavenly angel or star, opt for a gothic Christmas tree in black with all red lights. White lights work nicely on a black Christmas tree, too. Hang Nightmare Before Christmas ornaments all over your tree for a more whimsical gothic Christmas look. For a more Victorian gothic Christmas tree, hang candles from different limbs of your black gothic Christmas tree...just don't light them or your whole house might go up in flames! Another option would be to use the artificial tealights in your black tree. Red tinsel would add a nice gothic touch, as well (almost as if blood is dripping from the tree).
Amazon has gothic star wall decals for sale, which would be perfect for this gothic Holiday season. Stick them up on the wall behind your gothic Christmas tree or anywhere else in the house for that matter. You can leave these up year round, even after Christmas is over, as they are not technically Christmas decorations. Search etsy and amazon for different gothic decorations and you will be surprised what you can use for your gothic Christmas season!
A Twisted Holiday Party
Throwing a gothic Christmas party this year? You can have an elegant and twisted holiday party with the right gothic party accents and ambiance.
Check out the skull & bones party platter above, for sale on Amazon. This party platter is perfect to display that gorgeous Gothic Christmas cake.
Don't forget to play beautiful gothic Christmas music, classical and contemporary. Play clips of Tim Burton's films during the party. There is an awesome youtube video that I've posted here that combines Gothic Christmas music with Tim Burton's films such as Edward Scissorhands, etc.
Party supplies can be found at party stores and dollar stores. Buy black and red supplies, or even purple and black. Decorate your home in glittery bat garland and bat lights (use your leftover Halloween decorations or clearance Halloween decorations). Drape your windows in black and purple velvet and cover your table in a black tablecloth. Light candles around the house to set the ambiance.

Gothic Christmas Gifts & Gift Ideas
If you're going to have a Gothic Christmas party, why not have a Secret Gothic Santa gift exchange? Opt for gothic themed Christmas presents, such as the snowflake pet tag to the right or the alchemy gothic wine goblet as a present for someone special and twisted like yourself. Give the gift of the written word with the classic book "A Very Gothic Christmas".
Enclose your Gothic jewelry in little black lumps of coal jewelry boxes, which can be made using Martha Stewart's instructions (marthastewart.com). Or give the gift of gothic aroma with a Victorian style perfume bottle from etsy.
Of course the DVD The Nightmare Before Christmas is a perfect gothic addition to anyone's movie collection.
Whatever you do this Holiday season, be it parties or travel, have a Very Gothic Christmas and a Deadly New Year!
"Old Marley was as dead as a door-nail. Mind! I don't mean to say that I know, of my own knowledge, what there is particularly dead about a door-nail. I might have been inclined, myself, to regard a coffin-nail as the deadest piece of ironmongery in the trade. But the wisdom of our ancestors is in the simile; and my unhallowed hands shall not disturb it, or the Country's done for. You will therefore permit me to repeat, emphatically, that Marley was as dead as a door-nail." - Charles Dickens, A Christmas Carol

What a sight your hidden freak will be....happy goth tidings, my dear, cool friend...We'll have much fun, I'm sure...
I was fascinated by your hub. I found it very interesting. I had no idea there were gothic orientated Christmas decorations. Up and interesting.
My family and I have had a black tree for the last few years, but finding some of the other stuff definitely takes some patience. Thanks for sharing!
There are usually too many children here to even consider Gothic. Candles on the tree is another thing that would be a no way here. Never know when one of the children will light them. We have actually caught the young ones with lighters and trying to smoke.
Most of the children here come from homes where their mother was abused by their husband so anything dark is avoided. They have already seen enough of the "dark" side of life. I think I would tend to be more Gothic if it was just me or there were only adults. Halloween has always been my favorite holiday. This year for the first time the very little ones were allowed to be whatever they chose, so we had many more dark colors this year. Dark red and black were the colors the children chose on their own.
Just make sure to write a hub with good pictures when you have yours set up.
Thanks
All awesome ideas. Though I don't think my wife would go for it, I think it would be great. A new twist on an old ideal as it were.
voted up and awesome.
This is very cool. You've put together a great resource here! A Gothic Christmas would be a great idea. I'd definitely give this a try sometime, but I'm afraid I'm not really the decorating type and have little reason now to do it. I love your hub, though, and I will definitely be back to it in the future.
Up and beautiful, too bad We don't do christmas. Yule we celebrate in the form of ritual but presents and a tree we don't. I do find your insight to be lovely and if we do start to celebrate, I will come to you for ideas. Merry part until we meet again....)o(
Well my love and I are both wiccan as is her father and sister, so we dont have the limits I once had when I lived in Ca with first wife and kids. Did you have a good Litha? I forgot about it this year. didnt jump the fire, but i did let a few flowers go in a river(better late than never).
The tree was really as far as we have gone. As far as decorations, we have always tried to find an ornament that has some special meaning for us for that year and we do one for the whole family and one for each individual child. For example, one year we got a new home ornament for the family and the kids got a football, a clarinet, and a cheerleading ornament. Plus the kids all have their own colored mini-tree for their rooms- silver, blue, and green.

I loved this hub...and the timing couldn't have been more perfect...immersed in summertime fun and distractions, we need those seeds of the next seasons to start fermenting in the back of our minds.
I for one am looking forward to a new type of Christmas, and this is the perfect solution..
Beautiful, just beautiful Kitty'...thank you so much...what a fun time we're going to have!!!
